What is the epoxy crack injector, and when do you use it?
The FidStrong epoxy crack injector is a surface-mounted injection port with a transparent tube for low-pressure epoxy injection into concrete cracks. It is sized for FSE 523 injection resin (mixed viscosity ≤ 300 mPa·s), which travels into cracks from 0.05 mm under low pressure and from 0.1 mm by gravity (FSE 523 TDS). The clear tube shows the resin front, so you see when a crack section is full before moving to the next port.
Ports are set along the crack at 200–300 mm spacing and sealed in with FSE 502 paste before injection (FSE 523 TDS, Step 1). The ports are single-use: once the resin has cured they are ground off together with the FSE 502 seal. Supplied 50 pcs per box — roughly 10–15 m of crack per box at that spacing — for vertical, horizontal and overhead work. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need injection ports to inject epoxy into a concrete crack?
For pressure injection, yes. The FSE 523 data sheet (TDS-FSE523-V202605) calls for injection ports set along the crack at 200–300 mm spacing, with the crack face and port bases sealed with FSE 502 paste before injecting. Gravity filling of an open crack in a horizontal slab is the one case that works without ports.
How far apart should the injection ports be set?
200–300 mm along the crack, per the FSE 523 data sheet — the closer spacing on fine cracks and thin sections. One box of 50 ports therefore covers roughly 10–15 m of crack (derived from the spacing; add ports for branching, and for a wall cracked right through, which is ported on both faces).
Which epoxy does the injector work with, and how fine a crack can it fill?
It is sized for FSE 523, a two-component epoxy with a mixed viscosity of ≤ 300 mPa·s. Under low-pressure injection FSE 523 travels into cracks from 0.05 mm; by gravity, from 0.1 mm (FSE 523 TDS).
Can it be used on vertical and overhead cracks?
Yes. The ports work in vertical and horizontal orientation; the FSE 523 procedure names pressure injection for vertical and overhead cracks and gravity fill for horizontal ones. Work upward from the lowest port so air is pushed ahead of the resin.
Are the injection ports reusable?
No. The ports are single-use consumables: once the FSE 523 resin has cured, they are ground off together with the FSE 502 surface seal and the surface is made good. Allow one box of 50 for roughly every 10–15 m of crack.
